Abstract
Background: Mental disorders are among the largest public health issues globally and the
prevalence is growing. Physical inactivity is increasing worldwide and people with mental
disorders are often less physically active compared to the general population despite the known
health benefits of physical activity. Mental disorders and reduced physical activity level can
further negatively influence the Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL). Existing research
support the positive relationship between physical activity and various components of HRQOL
among the general population as well as among individuals with mental disorders, however, more
research is needed.
