Sport has become important in modern societies, both mass sport as well as elite sport. Especially elite sport raises ethical dilemmas that reach far beyond sport. The most thorough scholarly discussion of sport ethics has taken place among sport philosophers. Journal of the Philosophy of Sport (JPS) has been the leading international referee journal in the field of sport ethics. The article gives an overview over some of the main sport ethical discussions in JPS in the period 1980–2007. Some of the main positions and arguments related to themes such as sport and values, «sportsmanship », «fair play», and doping are portrayed. One of the goals of the article is to invite theologians to take part in the sport ethical discussion. The article is in Norwegian.en
