Although sprinting skills are considered important in soccer, several aspects regarding sprint conditioning of players remain unclear in research literature. No studies have so far investigated the effect of direct supervision during repeated sprint training (RST) in soccer players. Moreover, the vast majority of studies recommend that sprinting velocity should be kept on a maximal level during training. The aim of the present study is two-fold: 1) to compare the effects of directly supervised RST versus unsupervised RST on maximal sprint performance and repeated sprint ability (RSA) in high level young soccer players, and 2) to investigate the effects of training at 90% sprint velocity performed off-season on maximal sprint performance and RSA.nb_NO
